Old Navy Weekly

Old Navy Weekly will update sometime this evening.  I have been partaking in the excitement since early in the spring and have enjoyed hunting for the hidden coupons.  You never know what to expect & you never know when you'll be one of the lucky ones who finds a high dollar coupon!  I have found the $75/$100 twice!  Us being on one income with a fast growing bug, those were really special to have. 

If you are looking for Old Navy coupons - I would keep a close eye on the website and practice your finding coupon skills!  These will be in even bigger demand as we enter the holiday season.

Christmas Light Trade-In at Home Depot!

Yes, Halloween is this Saturday - which means that starting Sunday the Winter Holidays will be all the craze - especially Christmas!  It's never too early to start getting prepared, expecially if that means saving money - and energy!

From November 5th-15th, Home Depot stores are offering a $3 coupon for each set of old Christmas lights you trade in! You can then turn the coupons around and use them for savings on the new LED lights, which will be temporarily priced at $5.97. Trade in old lights and get new, much more efficient lights for only $2.97 each! Customers can bring in up to 5 sets each.

Coupon Code

I have had a couple requests for some explanation of the 'coupon code'.

So I hope this helps! I found the best code explanation on the Saving Our Cents website - so thank you!

Coupon Code

OOP means out of pocket. This is often referring to the cost you actually have to incur.

RP means Red Plum. This is a weekly coupon insert.

P&G means Proctor & Gamble. This also is a coupon insert usually monthly.

SS means Smart Source. This is another weekly coupon insert.

ECB means Extra Care Bucks. This is CVS "money" that you earn for purchasing certain products. They print immediately on the bottom of your receipt.

CRT means Cash Register Tape. These are coupons that print on the bottom of your receipt.

RR means Register Rewards. This is Walgreens "money" that you earn for purchasing certain products. These print from a separate machine and not on your receipt.

EXP means expires.

BOGO or B1G1 means buy one get one free.

Q means coupon.

Printable means an online coupon that you can print off of your computer.

WYB means when you buy.

Peelie refers to a coupon found on a package that you can peel off and use.

MIR means mail in rebate.

Catalina refers to a coupon that prints out of a separate machine that can be used onyo. This is very common for grocery stores such as Kroger.

ONYO means on your next order.$1.00/1 means a dollar off of one item.2/$3.00 means two items for $3.00. You can also look at this as $1.50 per item depending on how the store handles the sale prices.

YMMV means your mileage may vary. This refers to the idea that what works at one store or with one manager may not work at others.Blinkie refers to a coupon that you get from those machines found in the store aisle.

FAR means Free After Rebate.

It's starting to feel like Fall!

The weather today was a rude awakening that Summer really is gone & Fall has arrived! It's dreary with a light shower here & there and mostly cold! I had to turn the heat on in our house after lunch to that my bug wouldn't be too cold during her nap!

Speaking of my bug. I've mentioned before that I don't think I talk about her enough - so I will take advantage of this dreary Fall day to add a little brightness to my blog! :-)

Lyla is now a little over 16 months & is just amazing! We FINALLY have teeth! Two to be exact. Her top front two. I've read that normally babies get their bottom front two first but am not surprised in the least that they aren't following a 'normal' breakthrough considering she isn't following a 'normal' teething pattern to begin with, timeline wise! haha!

She has the sweetest head of hair now! Hair that I can actually put a clip in! She had such little hair for so long. Around one year it started to grow and grow it has. It curls up in the back and I put a little clip in the side to hold the hair out of her face. I just want to take a little bite out of her when I put a clip in her hair because its so new & so incredibly cute!

We are working on new words all the time. The latest 3 this week are: Cheese, Shoes and Socks. Clearly the Shoes & Socks come from the change in the weather, as her momma isn't a fan of shoes & socks either! With the lack of teeth, her S's are soft & its so cute to hear her say these words!

The other new thing is climbing. It's pretty normal for her to climb up on the couch or try to climb in one of our laps, but nothing too adventurous. Lyla is calculated, thought out and not one that I would call a 'risk taker' as of yet. So when I came into the room the other day to find her STANDING on a box of her diapers and shaking her booty, dancing, I was very surprised! Mental note - can't leave the unused diaper box out for her to put her toys on as a play table any longer. I quickly put that away & surveyed the perimeter of the room to find any other potential climbing risks and felt that I was in the clear. That was until I was fixing lunch this past weekend and turned around to find her standing on her small wooden piano looking out of the front window! When she heard me coming towards her - she just turned around and grinned, all the while holding on for dear life to the blinds!

Life with a toddler is full of surprises and we are just loving this stage in the life of our little bug!

Best friend has child. Her: exhausted, busy, no time for self, no time for me, etc. Me (no kids): Wow. Sorry. What'd you do today? Her: Park, play group . . .

Okay. I've done Internet searches, I've talked to parents. I don't get it. What do stay-at-home moms do all day? Please no lists of library, grocery store, dry cleaners . . . I do all those things, too, and I don't do them EVERY DAY. I guess what I'm asking is: What is a typical day and why don't moms have time for a call or e-mail? I work and am away from home nine hours a day (plus a few late work events) and I manage to get it all done. I'm feeling like the kid is an excuse to relax and enjoy -- not a bad thing at all -- but if so, why won't my friend tell me the truth? Is this a peeing contest ("My life is so much harder than yours")? What's the deal? I've got friends with and without kids and all us child-free folks get the same story and have the same questions.

Or you're lying about having friends with kids.

Or you're taking them at their word that they actually have kids, because you haven't personally been in the same room with them.

Internet searches?

I keep wavering between giving you a straight answer and giving my forehead some keyboard. To claim you want to understand, while in the same breath implying that the only logical conclusions are that your mom-friends are either lying or competing with you, is disingenuous indeed.

So, since it's validation you seem to want, the real answer is what you get. In list form. When you have young kids, your typical day is: constant attention, from getting them out of bed, fed, clean, dressed; to keeping them out of harm's way; to answering their coos, cries, questions; to having two arms and carrying one kid, one set of car keys, and supplies for even the quickest trips, including the latest-to-be-declared-essential piece of molded plastic gear; to keeping them from unshelving books at the library; to enforcing rest times; to staying one step ahead of them lest they get too hungry, tired or bored, any one of which produces the kind of checkout-line screaming that gets the checkout line shaking its head.

It's needing 45 minutes to do what takes others 15.

It's constant vigilance, constant touch, constant use of your voice, constant relegation of your needs to the second tier.

It's constant scrutiny and second-guessing from family and friends, well-meaning and otherwise.

It's resisting constant temptation to seek short-term relief at everyone's long-term expense.

It's doing all this while concurrently teaching virtually everything -- language, manners, safety, resourcefulness, discipline, curiosity, creativity. Empathy. Everything.

It's also a choice, yes. And a joy. But if you spent all day, every day, with this brand of joy, and then, when you got your first 10 minutes to yourself, wanted to be alone with your thoughts instead of calling a good friend, a good friend wouldn't judge you, complain about you to mutual friends, or marvel how much more productively she uses her time. Either make a sincere effort to understand or keep your snit to yourself.
